Pakistan Navy and Chinese PLA (N) Conclude Major “Sea Guardian IV” Naval Exercise

Karachi, Pakistan (HRNW)- The bilateral naval exercise “Sea Guardian IV,” conducted between the Pakistan Navy (PN) and the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLA-N), successfully concluded on April 1, 2026. Held from March 25 to April 1, the exercise was designed to strengthen mutual cooperation and enhance maritime synergy between the two strategic naval forces.

The exercise was executed in two comprehensive phases: a five-day harbor phase in Karachi followed by a two-day sea phase in the Northern Arabian Sea. Upon the arrival of the PLA (N) vessel for docking, a warm welcome was accorded by PNS Taimur. The harbor phase featured a series of bilateral activities, including exchange visits between fleet units, orientation tours of naval installations, and high-level professional discussions focused on contemporary maritime security challenges. Notably, the inaugural Young Officers’ Seminar was also held as part of the preparations for the sea phase.

Following the harbor activities, units from both navies transitioned to the Arabian Sea for rigorous operational drills. Major maneuvers during the sea phase included advanced air defense exercises specifically designed to counter multi-domain swarm attacks, joint drills involving a Pakistan Navy submarine, conventional warfare tactics, and live-fire gunnery sessions. These operations significantly bolstered interoperability at both tactical and operational levels.

The successful conclusion of “Sea Guardian IV” was marked by a PN-PLA (N) coordinated patrol in the Arabian Sea, underscoring the unwavering commitment of both nations to regional maritime security and stability.
