Islamabad (HRNW)- The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has strongly denied recent reports claiming an increase in the prices of essential medicines, terming them baseless. A DRAP spokesperson clarified that there has been no hike in the prices of essential medicines, including insulin and other life-saving drugs, and no such increase has been approved in recent months.
The spokesperson emphasized that pharmaceutical companies are not allowed to raise prices of medicines listed as essential on their own, and DRAP is maintaining strict oversight to ensure availability.
Additionally, DRAP has issued two key advisories to pharmaceutical companies, directing them to diversify sources of raw materials and maintain sufficient stock levels to prevent shortages amid potential global supply chain disruptions.
