NAB Karachi Hands Over Recovered Funds to Gulshan-e-Rumi Victims

KARACHI (HRNW): In a significant move toward public restitution, the Director General of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi, Shakeel Ahmed Durrani, presided over a ceremony to distribute cheques worth 12.592 million rupees among the victims of the Gulshan-e-Rumi housing scandal. The recovery follows a rigorous investigation into the management of M/s Humair Associates, who were accused of defrauding the public through the aforementioned residential project.

Addressing the ceremony, DG NAB Karachi emphasized that the bureau’s primary objective remains the return of looted wealth to its rightful owners. Key highlights from the update include:

  • Total Recovery Milestones: Prior to this latest disbursement, NAB Karachi had already returned 218.72 million rupees to 80 affected allottees of the same project.

  • Firm Action Against Corruption: Shakeel Ahmed Durrani reiterated NAB’s commitment to a “zero-tolerance policy” against corrupt elements, noting that under the leadership of Chairman NAB, the accountability process has been intensified to ensure no one is above the law.

  • Ongoing Accountability: The investigation into Humair Associates’ administrative and financial malpractices has reached a logical conclusion, resulting in these successful recoveries.

The DG NAB warned that the net is tightening around those who deprive citizens of their hard-earned life savings through fraudulent housing schemes. He assured the public that NAB would continue to accelerate its efforts to resolve long-standing scam cases and ensure transparency in the real estate sector.
