ISLAMABAD (HRNW) – Continuous closure of airspace in several countries has disrupted thousands of flights and stranded millions of passengers.
The airspace of Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Syria is completely closed. In addition, the airspace of UAE, Lebanon, and Jordan remains continuously restricted for flights. All airports in the UAE, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, are expected to remain closed until this afternoon.
According to a spokesperson from the Pakistan Airports Authority, Pakistan’s airspace is fully open and safe for all types of flights. However, some airlines are avoiding Pakistan and Afghanistan’s airspace as a precaution, according to FlightRadar reports.
Millions of passengers in the Gulf region are facing severe disruption. In contrast, Saudi Arabia’s airspace is open, and airport flight operations are normal.
Flight operations in Turkey have resumed, although Turkish Airlines flights are now using longer alternative routes.
