Pakistan Airspace on High Alert After Israel-US Strikes on Iran, Airlines Told to Avoid Iranian Airspace

Islamabad (HRNW)- In the wake of unprecedented Israeli and US strikes on Iran, Pakistani authorities have directed air traffic controllers to closely monitor the country’s borders, particularly the Iran-Afghanistan region.

Sources confirmed that Pakistani airlines have been instructed not to use Iranian airspace amid escalating regional tensions. A spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority stated that despite the evolving regional airspace situation, Pakistan’s airspace remains fully functional and safe for civil aviation operations.

According to NOTAM A0715/26 issued by Iranian authorities, Tehran airspace has been closed to civil aircraft from 1130 to 1700 hours Pakistan Standard Time. Officials indicated that if the restriction is extended beyond 1700 PKT, a significant surge in overflight traffic through Pakistani airspace is expected, particularly during nighttime operations, as international carriers reroute long-haul flights.

The Pakistan Airports Authority emphasized that Pakistan’s air traffic control systems are fully operational, with no delays, restrictions, or safety concerns reported so far. Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and coordination with international stakeholders.

The heightened alert follows reports that Israel carried out airstrikes in Tehran in coordination with the United States. Israeli defense officials claimed the attacks were planned months in advance, describing them as preemptive measures to counter immediate threats from Iran. Reports indicate heavy explosions were heard in Tehran, and emergency sirens were activated.

US President Donald Trump, in an emergency statement, confirmed that US forces launched a major operation against Iran, alleging Tehran’s long-standing hostility toward American interests in the region.

Security analysts suggest that the coordinated four-day operation could significantly impact the regional balance, with potential ripple effects on international aviation routes and geopolitical stability.
