Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Chief Says Workers’ Resolve Cannot Be Broken, Announces Large Rallies

Karachi (HRNW)Munim Zafar Khan, speaking to the media at Noor Institute, said that workers were jailed for demanding their rights, but their determination and courage cannot be defeated.

He stated that jailed workers demonstrated patience and resilience. Criticizing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Munim Zafar Khan claimed that filing anti-terrorism cases against those upholding the Constitution proves that PPP is anti-Karachi. He added that using lathi charges and toxic tear gas against those advocating for Karachi’s rights reflects the party’s fascist policies.

He highlighted that the people of Karachi are protesting for basic facilities like water, electricity, and repaired roads, yet the Sindh government is unwilling to address civic issues. Meanwhile, criminals involved in street crimes roam freely, children are dying after falling into open drains, and the Sindh Building Control Authority is failing in its responsibilities.

Munim Zafar Khan said the “Haq Do Karachi” movement has now transformed into the “Jeene Do Karachi” movement. He recalled that a four-story building collapsed in Soldier Bazaar during suhoor yesterday due to a cylinder explosion. Jamaat-e-Islami has consistently called for peaceful protests, noting that demonstrations on February 1 on Shahrah-e-Faisal and February 14 outside the Sindh Assembly were violence-free.

He announced that, following the appeal of Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami will hold large rallies at 13 locations across Karachi and, if necessary, organize sit-ins outside the Chief Minister House or Sindh Assembly.
