Orange, France (HRNW)- Police in the French city of Orange have arrested a couple after discovering the bodies of five newborn babies concealed in cardboard boxes inside their home.
According to investigators, the woman had recently given birth to a healthy baby boy. During a search of the residence, authorities found the bodies of five newborn infants in the early stages of decomposition. The bodies had reportedly been placed in plastic bags and hidden inside cardboard boxes.
Police arrested the 32-year-old woman and her husband for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
French prosecutors are treating the case as the suspected murder of children under the age of 15, while forensic experts are conducting examinations to determine the exact causes and times of the infants’ deaths.
Authorities said the couple’s other children have been placed under the care of child protection services, while the custody of the newborn baby will be decided by the court.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released additional details regarding the case.
