PIA Suspends Flight Operations to Gulf Countries Amid Middle East Tensions

KARACHI (HRNW): In response to the rapidly evolving security situation in the Middle East and the subsequent closure of regional airspaces, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the immediate suspension of its flight operations to several Gulf destinations. According to a spokesperson for the national flag carrier, flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Doha (Qatar), and Kuwait have been put on hold. These cancellations will remain in effect initially until Sunday evening or until such a time that the regional airspace is declared safe for commercial transit.

While flights to Saudi Arabia will continue to operate, PIA has implemented significant changes to these routes to avoid conflict-affected zones. To ensure passenger safety and operational continuity, these flights have been shifted to Boeing 777 aircraft. Due to the rerouting through extended aerial corridors, travel times to Saudi Arabian destinations are expected to be longer than usual.

PIA management has emphasized that the safety of its passengers and crew is the top priority. Travelers are strongly advised to verify their flight status or request booking changes before heading to the airport. For the latest updates and re-accommodation options, passengers can contact the PIA Call Centre at 021-111-786-786.
