KARACHI (HRNW): In a significant move to honor the religious observances of the Christian community, the Sindh Government has prohibited the conduct of examinations during Holy Week and Easter. All educational boards across the province have been formally directed to ensure that no exams are scheduled between April 2 and April 6, 2026.
According to Provincial Minister for Universities Muhammad Ismail Rahu, this decision was made on the directives of the Chief Minister of Sindh following a formal request from Father Mario A. Rodrigues, Principal of St. Patrick’s High School, Karachi.
Key Schedule Adjustments:
-
Suspension Period: No examinations will take place from Thursday, April 2, to Monday, April 6, 2026.
-
Resumption: All postponed or newly scheduled exams will commence from Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
-
Mandatory Updates: Educational boards that have already issued date sheets are required to immediately amend and republish their schedules.
Minister Rahu emphasized that all Board Chairmen must ensure full compliance and submit a formal report to the department for the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. He stated that this measure aims to promote interfaith harmony and provide minority students and faculty the necessary facility to celebrate their religious festivals with their families.
