Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Gulf countries have realized that the US military presence in the region has failed to provide lasting security.
According to a statement issued by the Iranian presidential office, President Pezeshkian made these remarks during a meeting with military commanders, stating that relying on the United States for security has proven to be an unrealistic and ineffective approach.
He said that given the current regional and global situation, Iran must further strengthen and modernize its defense system according to present-day requirements, as rival forces have acquired advanced technologies and modern weaponry.
The Iranian president urged the country’s armed forces to fully utilize modern technology, scientific research and local academic institutions to enhance defense capabilities.
He emphasized that Iran should expand cooperation with universities, scientific centers and knowledge-based companies to achieve technological superiority in the defense sector and build the country’s defense system on modern lines.
President Pezeshkian also praised the professional role of the Iranian military, saying that the armed forces have effectively fulfilled their national responsibilities while remaining away from political and party affairs, which he described as a valuable asset for the country.
His remarks come at a time when tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel continue to rise in the Middle East, while the region’s security situation remains under close global scrutiny.
