Karachi (HRNW) – A major development has emerged in the alleged financial irregularities case involving the BRT Yellow Line project, as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has started an investigation following the provincial Anti-Corruption Department’s inquiry.
According to NAB sources, the bureau is investigating alleged advance payments amounting to Rs. 8.5 billion made in connection with the Yellow Line project.
Sources said that the NAB Chairman has directed the Director General NAB Karachi to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter.
NAB officials will examine the advance payments made in the BRT Yellow Line project, including how the funds were utilized and what work was completed after the payments were released.
According to sources, the investigation will review whether the required development work was carried out after the advance payments and identify any discrepancies or delays.
It is pertinent to mention that former Project Director of the BRT Yellow Line, Zamir Abbasi, has already been arrested in the case. He was taken into custody by the provincial Anti-Corruption Department from Lahore.
Sources stated that the Anti-Corruption Court had rejected Zamir Abbasi’s bail application. The Anti-Corruption Department’s investigation is ongoing; however, the challan in the case has not yet been submitted.
Zamir Abbasi has been accused of involvement in alleged irregularities related to Rs. 8.5 billion in advance payments for the Yellow Line project.
