51 Detained in Raids Over Drug-Fueled Party at Malaysian Hotel

Kuala Lumpur (HRNW)- Security officials in Malaysia detained 51 people during a series of raids linked to a drug-fueled party at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

According to authorities, homosexuality remains a criminal offense in Muslim-majority Malaysia, while Sharia laws also prohibit homosexual acts and cross-dressing.

Police arrested 51 men between the ages of 21 and 52, including 28 foreign nationals, during the operation.

Narcotics Investigation Department director Hussain Omar Khan said in a statement that illegal drugs worth approximately 103,070 ringgit (around $26,021) were seized during four separate raids.

He stated that the group had been using rooms in luxury hotels for entertainment and drug use and was suspected of involvement in immoral activities.

Authorities confirmed that the case is being investigated under Malaysia’s Dangerous Drugs Act.

According to police, before the raids began, a man believed to be associated with the gathering was found unconscious in the hotel lobby. He was shifted to Kuala Lumpur Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
