Karachi (HRNW)- Despite several local and global challenges, Pakistani freelancers earned more than $950 million in foreign exchange during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, outperforming freelancers from India, China, the UAE and several other countries.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan, export earnings from freelancing in the computer and information services sector reached $959 million during July 2025 to April 2026, compared to $642 million during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
This reflects an annual increase of 49 percent or $317 million.
Dr. Imran Batada, President and CEO of the Pakistan Freelancers Association, said that the rise in freelancers’ earnings was driven by the growing participation of Pakistani freelancers on platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr and various social media platforms.
He stated that awareness about freelancing has increased significantly in Pakistan over recent years, enabling a large number of individuals to gain skills through online learning platforms, private institutions, government training programs and NGO initiatives.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Imran Batada has won the Global CIO Award five times and has trained more than 25,000 freelancers.
He added that Pakistan’s freelancing community currently consists of around 3 million people and stressed that this number could grow further through coordinated support from the government, banking sector and other stakeholders.
