Punjab Police Announces Monthly Stipend for Children of Personnel with Visual Impairment

LAHORE (HRNW): In a significant welfare initiative, the Punjab Police department has announced a dedicated monthly allowance for the children of police personnel who are suffering from total blindness. Under the new directive, a stipend of 20,000 rupees per month will be provided to support the specialized needs of these children.

This initiative comes through a formal amendment to the Punjab Police Welfare Fund Rules – 2022. The policy is inclusive, covering the children of active-duty officers, retired personnel, and those who have embraced martyrdom (Shaheed). Exercising the powers conferred under Article 8(2)(q) and Article 27 of the Police Order 2002, the department has integrated this support system to ensure long-term financial assistance for families dealing with permanent visual disabilities.

The notification, signed by the Additional Inspector General of Police (Finance & Welfare), stipulates that the allowance will be effective from January 1, 2026, and will be disbursed on a quarterly basis. All subordinate offices and district police lines have been instructed to identify eligible personnel and facilitate the documentation process. Affected employees are encouraged to inform their respective departments immediately to begin receiving the benefit, which aims to alleviate the financial burden of specialized care and education for visually impaired children.
