Karachi (HRNW)- After the fire that broke out in Gul Plaza, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has completed a detailed inspection of the affected building. The SBCA team, along with Senior Engineer Arif Qasim of the Pakistan Engineering Council, inspected the basement and ground floor of the building.
During the inspection, it was found that two columns of Rampa Plaza have been affected due to the collapse of a part of Gul Plaza and the interior has also been affected due to the collapse of the outer part of the building. According to SBCA officials, as a result of the collapse of the outer part, some part of the building has tilted towards Rampa Plaza.
It has been decided to immediately install jacks on the connected part of the affected building and Rampa Plaza to prevent further damage. The debris of both the collapsed parts of the building will be lifted under the supervision of SBCA experts.
The SBCA said that there is a large amount of hot water in the basement of the building, only after its removal will a complete inspection of the interior columns be possible. Officials clarified that it would be premature to make a final statement regarding the immediate collapse of the building and a full assessment would be possible after the water is drained and the debris is removed.
The affected columns of Rampa Plaza have leaned to one side and according to SBCA officials, jacks will be installed on these columns by tonight to stabilize the building.
