Tunisia Government Crackdown Targets NGOs and Rights Defenders

Tunis, Tunisia (HRNW) – Amnesty International reports that the Tunisian government has intensified its crackdown on NGOs and human rights defenders.

Authorities have detained staff, frozen organizational assets, and restricted the operations of groups working on migration, refugee protection, and civic rights. HRNW warns that this repression shrinks civil society space, undermines freedom of expression, and threatens democratic progress.

Calls are being made for the release of detained defenders and restoration of legal protections for NGOs.
