Karachi (HRNW) – A Judicial Magistrate (East) has granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a two-day physical remand of four suspects arrested in connection with an alleged scheme involving the preparation of fraudulent identity documents for Afghan nationals.
The accused, identified as Inam-ul-Haq, Fayyaz Ahmed Sangi, Junaid, and Muhammad Umar, were produced before the court by the FIA for remand proceedings.
According to the FIA, the suspects allegedly tampered with official records to facilitate the issuance of fake identity documents for Afghan nationals. The agency informed the court that further investigation is required to determine the full scope of the alleged network.
The FIA also claimed that preliminary evidence suggests possible links between the suspects and terrorist elements, adding that investigations into these allegations are ongoing.
After hearing the FIA’s request, the court approved a two-day physical remand and directed investigators to continue the inquiry and present progress at the next hearing.
From a human rights and rule of law perspective, all accused persons are entitled to due process, legal representation, and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a competent court. The allegations presented by investigators remain subject to judicial scrutiny and must be established through admissible evidence during trial.
