US Envoy Says Trump Paused Iran Strikes to Create Opportunity for Diplomacy

New York (HRNW)- US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz has said that President Donald Trump halted military strikes on Iran to create an opportunity for diplomatic negotiations.

In an interview with US media, Mike Waltz said President Trump paused the attacks to make room for diplomacy and provide an opening for negotiations with Tehran.

He added that the US administration is creating space for dialogue, although he did not provide further details about the nature or framework of the potential negotiations.

According to the report, President Trump ordered the suspension of military operations against Iran after 13 days of continuous strikes, while Iran also halted its military operations in response.

According to a foreign news agency, a senior Trump administration official said the president has consistently maintained that diplomacy remains his top priority. However, the official warned that if Iran does not engage seriously in negotiations, it will face severe consequences.

President Donald Trump has also stated that he wants to give diplomacy a chance, adding that Iran has shown interest in negotiations but has yet to reach an agreement.
