Islamabad (HRNW)- Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has categorically rejected the statement of Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, saying that such remarks cannot alter the internationally recognized status of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and represent an attempt to distort established legal facts.
Reacting to Rajnath Singh’s statement on the social media platform X, Khawaja Asif said that India’s continued attempts to distort internationally recognized legal realities through intimidation and threat-based rhetoric cannot change the facts.
He said Pakistan firmly rejects the Indian Defence Minister’s irresponsible remarks, adding that such statements are another attempt to distort internationally recognized legal facts through political rhetoric and coercive tactics. He maintained that these remarks can neither change the status of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir nor contribute to regional peace, stability, or meaningful dialogue.
The Defence Minister stated that Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory, whose final status is to be determined in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the freely expressed will of the Kashmiri people.
Khawaja Asif further said that, in light of what he described as a documented record of state-sponsored terrorism and criminal activities, India’s repeated attempts to blame Pakistan have lost credibility. He alleged that India is the principal source of instability in South Asia and has held the region hostage to its aggressive and expansionist ambitions.
He added that India’s rhetoric is increasing concerns over the possibility of inter-state conflict in the region. While reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace and dialogue, he stressed that the country’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security is unwavering and should not be tested.
Khawaja Asif also said that the Indian Defence Minister’s statements are intended to divert attention from India’s internal political challenges and growing public dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance.
