Karachi (HRNW): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched a comprehensive nationwide survey focusing on consumer experiences with digital payment services. The initiative aims to gather direct feedback and recommendations from the public to make the country’s digital payment ecosystem more efficient, secure, and user-friendly.
Surge in Digital Transactions Driven by SBP Reforms
According to the central bank, numerous policy and regulatory measures have been introduced over the past few years to promote secure, reliable, and inclusive digital financial services.
As a direct result of these strategic initiatives, Pakistan has witnessed an exponential growth in transactions executed via mobile banking applications, digital wallets, payment cards, the ‘Raast’ instant payment system, and Inter-Bank Fund Transfers (IBFT).
Understanding Consumer Expectations and Security Concerns
The central bank emphasized that with the rapid adoption of cashless transactions, it has become vital to monitor and evaluate the evolving experiences, expectations, and challenges faced by everyday users.
The nationwide survey is strategically designed to gather data across several key metrics, including:
-
The overall quality and accessibility of digital financial services.
-
General ease of use and interface navigation.
-
Public trust in executing digital transactions.
-
The efficiency of grievance redressal and dispute-resolution mechanisms at commercial banks.
-
Consumer apprehensions regarding digital fraud and cyber threats.
The State Bank of Pakistan intends to utilize the insights gained from this survey to draft future financial regulations, optimize operational frameworks, and strengthen security protocols to protect consumer capital across all digital platforms.
