Islamabad (HRNW): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to establish dedicated Financial Action Task Force (FATF) desks across the country, and an official directive has been formally issued to this effect.
Director General Orders Immediate Setup
According to official sources, the Director General (DG) of the FIA has issued strict orders to all Additional DGs and Zonal Directors to oversee the immediate setup of these FATF desks. These specialized desks will be responsible for compiling and maintaining detailed reports on the execution of six distinct tasks assigned to Pakistan by the global watchdog.
Preparation for the Upcoming Evaluation
The FIA confirmed that the compiled data and progress reports will be formally presented during FATF’s Mutual Evaluation, which is highly anticipated to take place during the final quarter of the current year. To ensure a seamless review, the DG FIA has instructed all operational wings and regional zones to guarantee comprehensive and timely compliance with all FATF-mandated actions.
Seven-Day Deadline and Framework
The official order mandates that all designated focal persons must ensure complete execution of these instructions within seven days, followed by the submission of a compliance report directly to the DG FIA. Furthermore, a structured proforma consisting of seven Terms of Reference (TORs) has been officially attached to the directive to guide the operations of the newly formed FATF desks.
