Islamabad (HRNW)- The Central Power Purchasing Agency has filed a request for an increase of 27 paisa per unit for electricity consumers in Pakistan, after which electricity is likely to become more expensive.
According to CPPA, a total of 8.93 billion units of electricity were generated during March, while 8.64 billion units were supplied to distribution companies (DSCOs).
The documents state that the estimated fuel cost for March was Rs. 7.99 per unit, however, the actual cost increased to Rs. 8.26 per unit.
According to the data, 23.55 percent of electricity generation was generated from hydropower, 16.76 percent from local coal, 13.80 percent from imported coal and 5.64 percent from imported LNG.
Similarly, 1.02 percent of electricity was generated from furnace oil, 11.34 percent from local gas and 21.95 percent from nuclear fuel, while 3.46 percent from wind and 1.18 percent from solar were generated from renewable sources.
This application has been submitted in the context of the March fuel price adjustment, which will be heard on April 28.
