Karachi (HRNW)- A large manhole has been open in the middle of the road, some distance from the traffic police station near Nipa from Gulshan-e-Iqbal Chowrangi, for a long time, which has become a serious threat to the citizens. Factories are located on the sides of the said road, from where hundreds of people come and go every morning and evening, but Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town and the relevant local bodies have maintained complete silence on this serious issue.
According to sources, a tragic accident has taken place in front of the same road before, in which a young child named Ibrahim fell into an open manhole and lost his life, but despite this tragic incident, the relevant authorities have not taken any practical steps.
Residents of the area say that full taxes are collected from the people, but government institutions seem to be failing miserably in providing basic facilities. Citizens have raised the question whether the government has become so insensitive that even human lives have become of no importance?
Team Azad Riyat Karachi has demanded that Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab and all relevant local government institutions immediately completely seal this dangerous manhole and take urgent steps to save the public from further loss of life.
The citizens have warned that if timely action is not taken, another major tragedy could occur at any time, for which the entire responsibility will lie with the relevant authorities.
