Illegal Banquet Hall Construction Continues in Scheme 36 Despite Official Prohibition

Karachi, Pakistan (HRNW)- Despite a clear ban on wedding and banquet halls, illegal construction of a banquet hall is reportedly underway on Plot No. C-52, Scheme 36, near Continental Bakery in Karachi. The ongoing development, allegedly without any official approval or sanctioned building plan, has raised serious questions about the performance and integrity of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and other concerned departments.

Residents of the area have voiced strong concerns, stating that constructing a banquet hall in a residential zone is a blatant violation of building laws and will inevitably lead to traffic congestion, noise pollution, and heightened security risks. They allege that repeated complaints to the authorities have gone unanswered, suggesting possible collusion or negligence by officials responsible for enforcement.

Local community members have urged the Director General of SBCA to immediately intervene and halt the illegal construction, initiate an inquiry, and take strict disciplinary action against any officials found involved in or supporting the unlawful activity.

Citizens warn that continued inaction would represent an open challenge to the rule of law and further erode public trust in civic governance and urban regulation.
