Hangu (HRNW): Security forces successfully foiled a major terror plot in the Khesari Banda area of Hangu district by timely defusing a 10-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED).
Timely Intervention by Locals and Security Forces
According to sources, unknown miscreants allegedly attempted to plant two bombs in the area late last night. However, local residents noticed the highly suspicious activity and immediately alerted law enforcement agencies. Realizing they had been spotted, the suspects fled the scene before security personnel arrived.
Seizures and Bomb Defusal
In their haste to escape, the suspects abandoned two motorcycles and a digging tool (mattock/hoe) at the site, which have been taken into custody by security forces. Shortly after, the police along with the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) cordoned off the entire area and safely neutralized the 10kg homemade explosive device.
The timely reporting by the local community combined with the rapid response of the law enforcement agencies averted a catastrophic disaster. Police have registered a case and initiated a comprehensive investigation to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
