Tehran: Army Chief General Asim Munir’s Visit to Iran Highly Productive; Encouraging Progress Made Toward Final Understanding, Says ISPR

RAWALPINDI (HRNW) – According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, has concluded a brief and highly productive official visit to Iran. The visit was part of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic mediation efforts to defuse regional tensions.

The military’s media wing stated that General Asim Munir held high-level meetings with the top Iranian leadership in Tehran. These mediation efforts primarily aimed at reducing regional frictions and fostering constructive engagements following the April 8 ceasefire. The discussions focused on bolstering regional peace and stability, West Asian security, and accelerating the ongoing consultative process to reach a final agreement.

The ISPR further highlighted that the detailed talks over the past 24 hours were conducted in a highly positive and constructive environment, resulting in encouraging progress toward a final understanding. The Iranian leadership highly commended Pakistan’s sincere, constructive role and facilitation in seeking peaceful resolutions to complex regional issues.

During the visit, General Asim Munir held a special meeting with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss regional de-escalation. The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were also present on the occasion. Furthermore, the Army Chief held a dedicated meeting with Iran’s chief negotiator, Baqer Qalibaf, exchanging views on the broader Iran-US dialogue. General Asim Munir also met with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, who had warmly received the Army Chief alongside senior civil and military officials upon his arrival in Tehran.
