KARACHI (HRNW): The spokesperson for the Sindh Government, Sukhdev Hemani, has issued a sharp rebuttal to the media talk given by the Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Munem Zafar. Hemani asserted that Jamaat-e-Islami’s politics relies solely on criticizing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Directly addressing Munem Zafar, Hemani questioned, “What can you achieve other than seeking cheap publicity?” He noted that while developmental work naturally brings temporary challenges, Jamaat-e-Islami consistently attempts to exploit these for political gain.
Key Highlights of the Sindh Government Spokesperson’s Statement:
-
Performance in JI Towns: Sukhdev Hemani challenged Munem Zafar to show tangible progress in the nine towns currently under Jamaat-e-Islami’s administration before criticizing others.
-
Political Standing: He remarked satirically that if the party truly knew how to serve the public, they would have more than just a single MPA in the assembly. He claimed the people of Karachi have rejected their narrative.
-
Criticism for the Sake of Criticism: The spokesperson alleged that Zafar holds daily press conferences or takes to the streets merely to “secure his job” within his party structure.
Hemani concluded by stating that instead of creating hurdles in development projects, Jamaat-e-Islami should adopt a constructive political approach, as mere criticism does not solve the city’s issues.
