KARACHI (HRNW): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh has announced a massive protest demonstration at the Karachi Press Club this Sunday to voice its rejection of the unprecedented surge in petroleum prices. Addressing a press conference, PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh lashed out at the federal government for dropping a “petrol bomb” on the citizens, warning that the move would trigger a devastating wave of inflation.
Economic Impact and Public Outcry
Haleem Adil Sheikh emphasized that with petrol now priced at Rs 458.40 and diesel at Rs 520.35 per litre, the cost of living is expected to skyrocket by 40% to 50%. He noted that the most severe impact would be felt by daily wage earners, the salaried class, and the transport sector, which are already struggling under existing economic pressures.

Leadership Attendance: The press conference was attended by prominent party leaders, including Karachi President Raja Azhar, General Secretary Arslan Khalid, Jamal Siddiqui, Agha Arslan, Muhammad Ali Baloch, Fouzia Siddiqui, Jan Sher Junejo, and Waleed Hashmi.

Critique of Governance: The leadership collectively condemned the government for shifting the entire burden of global market volatility and internal fiscal mismanagement onto the public. They also expressed grave concern over the collapsing urban infrastructure in Karachi following recent rains.
Call to Action
The PTI leadership has made a fervent appeal to the people of Karachi to join the protest in large numbers on Sunday. They stated that remaining silent in the face of such “economic tyranny” is no longer an option and urged the public to stand up for their rights and demand an immediate reversal of the price hike.
The protest is part of a broader series of demonstrations planned across the province as political opposition mounts against the government’s latest financial measures.
