ISLAMABAD: (HRNW) The Islamabad Police have apprehended 11 women and three men participating in the “Aurat March” (Women’s March) in the federal capital. According to official police statements, the arrests were made following a breach of Section 144, which is currently enforced across the city to prohibit public gatherings and demonstrations.
Law enforcement officials maintained that the arrests were a direct consequence of defying the standing ban on assemblies. Despite the imposition of the restrictive orders, activists had gathered to advocate for gender equality and women’s rights, leading to a confrontation with security personnel. The 14 individuals remain in custody as the administration reinforces security measures to prevent further unauthorized rallies.
