Lahore, Pakistan (HRNW): Minhaj-ul-Quran has announced the cancellation of the City I’tikaf 2026 due to escalating security concerns at both national and international levels. Authorities warned that gathering such a large number of people in one location amid current conditions poses a significant security threat.
The annual I’tikaf event, which has been held for 35 consecutive years, traditionally attracts hundreds of thousands of participants from across Pakistan and abroad.
In light of the circumstances, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri advised that participants should observe I’tikaf from their homes and local communities this year. He emphasized that the decision was taken solely to ensure the safety and security of all attendees.
