Karachi (HRNW): The Government of Sindh has decided to establish a dedicated Facilitation Desk for transporters at the New Sabzi Mandi (Superhighway, Karachi) to seamlessly integrate commercial vehicles into the provincial digital network.
The directives were issued during a high-level meeting of the Sindh Transport Department, where relevant sub-departments were instructed to initiate immediate logistical operations.
Streamlining Operations & Digital Compliance
According to Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, the primary objective of the special facilitation desk is to streamline the issuance and renewal of route permits, vehicle fitness certificates, and other legal regulatory documentation for commercial freight vehicles entering the provincial capital.
The overarching goal of this strategic initiative is to bring the maximum number of commercial and goods-transport vehicles into the Government of Sindh’s centralized digital and automation database by June 30, 2026.
Immediate Execution & Benefits for Transporters
The Transport Minister emphasized that the desk will be made fully operational within the current week. Key implementation steps currently underway include:
-
Staff Deployment: Specialized administrative and technical personnel are being stationed at the market location.
-
Public Awareness: Banners, hoardings, and public notices are being actively put up to educate incoming truck drivers and transport operators.
The establishment of this on-site facility at the New Sabzi Mandi—one of the busiest logistics hubs in the city—will effectively eliminate bureaucratic red tape, saving commercial transporters from making repetitive and time-consuming visits to distant government offices.
