Houthis Claim Attack on Israeli Targets, Announce Ban on Israeli Shipping in Red Sea

Sanaa (HRNW) – Yemen’s Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for a recent attack on Israel, stating that it targeted what it described as sensitive sites in the Jaffa (Yaffa) area amid escalating regional tensions.

In a statement published on the group’s official Telegram channel, the Houthis said the operation was carried out in response to ongoing developments in the Middle East and Israeli actions in the region. The group claimed that important targets were struck, although specific details regarding the operation were not provided.

The Houthis also announced a complete ban on Israeli-linked shipping in the Red Sea. According to the statement, the group intends to continue measures targeting maritime activities that it associates with Israel.

The movement warned that any further escalation in regional tensions would be met with stronger responses, stating that increased pressure would be answered with increased action.

The statement also referenced developments in Palestine, Gaza, Iran, Lebanon and Iraq, with the Houthis reiterating their support for causes they consider part of a broader regional struggle.

Israeli authorities have not issued a detailed response regarding the Houthis’ claims. Independent verification of the reported attack and its alleged targets was not immediately available.

Analysts note that threats against commercial shipping in the Red Sea could raise concerns for international maritime trade, given the strategic importance of the waterway for global commerce and energy transportation.

The announcement comes as tensions remain high across the Middle East, with regional and international stakeholders closely monitoring developments that could affect security and trade routes.
