“Bowl Polishing Before Floods, Inflation Traps Before Ramadan: This is the Sindh Government’s Governance!” — MPA Sajjad Ali Soomro

Karachi (HRNW)-Every year, as the flood season approaches in Sindh, the PPP-led provincial government brings out its age-old “begging bowl,” polishes it up, and presents it to the world for funds. Instead of permanent planning, timely preparation, or systemic reform, the focus remains solely on stretching out hands in the name of aid. Similarly, as soon as Ramadan arrives, profiteers become active; artificial shortages are created in the market, and whether it is fruit, essential food items, or rations, prices are pushed to the sky, making the common man’s life increasingly difficult. It is a matter of great regret that while it is the responsibility of Assistant Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across Karachi and all of Sindh to take indiscriminate action, in practice, fines are only imposed on poor street vendors. No one dares to touch a large wholesaler, factory owner, or influential businessman, further strengthening the public perception that these major business elements are shielded by their ties to government figures and ministers.
