Tehran (HRNW)- Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi has arrived in Tehran on an official visit, where he is scheduled to hold high-level talks with the Iranian leadership on bilateral relations, energy cooperation and the evolving regional situation.
According to Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Abboudi, the visit will focus on expanding cooperation between Iraq and Iran in the natural gas sector. The two sides will also discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, regional security issues and other matters of mutual interest.
The spokesperson said that proposals aimed at strengthening economic and energy ties between the two neighboring countries will also be considered. Iraq regards cooperation with Iran as important for meeting its energy needs, while both countries continue consultations on political and security challenges facing the region.
According to analysts, Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi’s visit comes at a time of heightened regional tensions, energy concerns and increased diplomatic activity. They believe the talks in Tehran could influence not only Iraq-Iran relations but also the broader political and security landscape of the Middle East.
Observers say the meeting could also lead to important decisions regarding energy projects, economic cooperation, border relations and efforts to promote regional stability.
