UK Vows to Defend Itself After Iran Warns of Strikes on British Bases

London (HRNW)- Britain has responded to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ threat to target British military bases for assisting the United States, reaffirming its commitment to defending the country and its people.

Britain said on Thursday that its armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country against any attack after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned that UK bases allowing US bombers to operate could become targets.

“Our armed forces are ready to defend the UK from any attack, whether on our soil or from abroad. The UK is ready to defend itself 24 hours a day,” a government spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that Britain maintains a layered air and missile defence system supported by the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force, while working closely with its NATO allies to ensure national security.

The Iranian warning came after newly appointed British Prime Minister Andy Burnham was reportedly informed last week that the United Kingdom was reactivating an existing agreement allowing the United States to use British military bases.
