Quetta (HRNW): The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan chapter has strongly condemned the brutal acid attack on a female doctor while on duty at Sandeman Civil Hospital Quetta, terming it a cowardly and barbaric assault.
Security Failure and Threat to Medical Community
According to PMA Balochistan, this horrific incident is not merely an assault on an individual doctor but a grave assault on the dignity, safety, and security of the entire medical fraternity. Condemning the incident as a severe security lapse, the association stated that such an attack within a sensitive healthcare facility is completely unacceptable.
Demands for Legal Action and Terrorism Charges
The PMA has formally demanded that a case be registered against the perpetrators under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), and that law enforcement agencies immediately apprehend and bring them to justice.
24-Hour Ultimatum and Threat of Country-Wide Strike
In an official statement, the medical association issued a strict 24-hour ultimatum to the Government of Balochistan, the Health Department, and top police officials. The association warned that if the attackers are not arrested within the stipulated timeframe, a severe province-wide protest strategy will be launched.
The PMA further cautioned that a failure to arrest the culprits would lead to a complete and indefinite boycott of medical services across all public and private hospitals in the province, the absolute responsibility of which would lie squarely on the government.
The organization reiterated that doctors, paramedics, and nursing staff stand completely united regarding their security, and a robust, collective voice will be raised against this injustice.
