KARACHI (HRNW) – The Government of Sindh has taken a major decision to establish a dedicated “Narcotics Control Force” to eliminate the menace of drug addiction and tighten the noose around drug cartels across the province.
Provincial Minister for Home Affairs, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, confirmed the decision while addressing media representatives following an important meeting of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs. He stated that the newly formed Narcotics Control Force and the Sindh Police will work in tandem, launching joint operations to root out narcotics from the province.
The Home Minister further mentioned that during the committee meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the delegation of special operational powers to the police alongside the new force to maximize efficiency and eliminate procedural delays during raids.
Commenting on a high-profile narcotics case, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar disclosed that multiple cases have been registered against an accused network or individual named ‘Pinky’. Currently, there are 12 cases registered in Sindh, 1 case with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), and 5 cases in Punjab. The minister categorically asserted in strong terms that no individual involved in the Pinky case, regardless of their influence, will be spared, and strict legal action will be ensured.
