Washington in Turmoil as Trump Accuses Democratic Lawmakers of Treason

Washington (HRNW) U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked intense political controversy after accusing Democratic lawmakers in Congress of treason and sedition, even suggesting that they deserve the death penalty, according to the World News Agency.

The confrontation escalated after six Democratic senators and representatives—who previously served in the military or intelligence agencies—released a viral video message urging military personnel to refuse illegal orders. The lawmakers reminded service members that obeying unlawful commands is itself a crime, emphasizing that no order can override the U.S. Constitution.

President Trump responded aggressively on his social media platform, Truth Social, condemning the lawmakers and demanding severe punishment. The Democratic Party denounced Trump’s remarks as dangerous and an attack on democratic norms.

In the video message, Senators Mark Kelly, Alyssa Slotkin, and others told military personnel: “You have a duty to reject illegal orders. We stand with you.”
Republicans, however, accused Democrats of attempting to incite the military to mutiny, with Trump adviser Stephen Miller labeling the video as “open mutiny.”

Democrats defended their stance, stating that U.S. Military courts have repeatedly ruled that obeying an obviously unlawful order is itself criminal.

This episode adds to a long list of instances in which President Trump has employed strong or provocative language against political opponents—including the 2016 “Lock her up” chants, calls for prosecution of Russia investigation officials in 2020, and recent attacks on figures such as Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and even members of his own party.
