LAHORE (HRNW) – The investigation into the death of 18-year-old domestic worker Ayesha has taken a new turn, with Lahore Police adding provisions for alleged gang-rape, medical complications arising from forced abortion, and murder to the case.
According to police authorities, the investigation has been transferred from the Gender Cell to the Lahore Investigation Wing to ensure a more rigorous probe. One named suspect in the case has already been arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.
Police officials stated that they have approached the court to re-include all those suspects in the investigation who were cleared a few days ago based on initial inquiries and the victim’s statement in court. These individuals will now be formally interrogated as part of the murder investigation.
On the other hand, the father of the deceased Ayesha has claimed that the statement previously recorded in court under Section 164 was given under immense duress. The police maintained that an impartial investigation is actively underway from all angles, and further legal proceedings will be executed in the light of the evidence collected.
