Karachi Interprovincial Criminal Gang Members Injured, Arrested in Garden Police Encounter

Karachi (HRNW) — In a police encounter near the Zoo in Garden, Karachi, members of an interprovincial criminal gang were injured and arrested following a shootout with the police.

Police confirmed that the suspects, Muhammad Saleem alias Veto and Muhammad Asif alias Mithu, were associates of criminals arrested two days ago in a previous Garden police encounter. The suspects opened fire on police, prompting return fire, which led to their capture in a wounded condition.

Authorities recovered two pistols with ammunition and a motorcycle from the suspects. Police said the gang is involved in hundreds of robberies, including targeting bank customers and later robbing them, and has operated in multiple cities across Punjab and Sindh.

Muhammad Saleem’s criminal record includes:

  1. Case No. 303/2020 under Sections 337L/34(2)/452, Thalamba Police Station, Punjab.
  2. Case No. 928/2023 under Punjab Arms Ordinance Act 2015, City Mian Channu, Punjab.
  3. Case No. 760/2023 under Sections 392/411, City Mian Channu, Punjab.
  4. Case No. 886/2023 under Sections 392/411, City Mian Channu, Punjab.
  5. Case No. 799/2023 under Sections 392/411, City Mian Channu, Punjab.

The suspects were transferred to hospital for medical treatment. Police have registered cases against them and are pursuing further legal action.
