Khanewal (HRNW): A fire suddenly broke out in the power van of the Rawalpindi-bound Tezgam Express near Khanewal. Rescue teams timely controlled the blaze, and the Chairman of Pakistan Railways has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the incident.
Incident and Rescue Operation
According to the Pakistan Railways spokesperson, the Tezgam Express was en route from Karachi to Rawalpindi when its power van caught fire near Khanewal. Taking immediate action, railway staff decoupled the burning power van from the rest of the passenger train to prevent the fire from spreading.
Although the flames completely engulfed the power van within moments, rescue teams rushed to the site upon receiving the alert and successfully brought the fire under control. Following the rescue operation, the train was safely dispatched toward its destination in Rawalpindi.
Inquiry Ordered
In response to the incident, the Chairman of Pakistan Railways has constituted a high-level investigation committee. The committee has been directed to thoroughly probe the cause of the fire and submit its comprehensive report within 7 days.
