Islamabad (HRNW)– A recent IMF report has revealed corruption worth Rs 5,300 billion in Pakistan in the last two years, based on NAB data. According to the report, the real corruption could be much higher while an effective accountability system has failed.

According to Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam, the report has expressed concern over the decline in public trust in institutions, weaknesses in the judiciary and state institutions. He said that corruption is rooted in budgeting and unnecessary projects, while NAB and FIA avoid major cases. The government has been demanded to clarify these issues.
