KARACHI (HRNW) – An armed street criminal was arrested in an injured condition following an exchange of fire between the Bilal Colony Police and a gang of dacoits near Iram Ground in Sector 5-E, New Karachi. However, his accomplice managed to escape the scene.
According to police sources, a routine patrolling team spotted suspicious individuals riding a motorcycle in the area. Upon seeing the police, the suspects opened fire in an attempt to evade capture. The police party immediately retaliated with effective counter-firing, injuring and successfully apprehending one of the suspects on the spot. Taking advantage of the darkness of the night, the second suspect managed to flee from the scene.
Law enforcement officials have identified the injured suspect as Aqib, son of Saleem. During the body search, police recovered an unlicensed 30-bore pistol along with 3 live rounds from his possession.
The injured criminal was immediately shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for necessary medical treatment. High-ranking officials stated that the criminal record of the arrested suspect is currently being verified, while a manhunt has been launched to arrest his fleeing accomplice. Further legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
