Israel Approves $334 Million Five-Year Settlement Expansion Plan in Occupied Golan Heights

Jerusalem (HRNW)- Israel has approved a five-year plan worth approximately $334 million to expand illegal settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, according to the Times of Israel.

The plan, covering 2026 to 2030, allocates around 1 billion shekels ($334 million) for infrastructure development and to promote Israeli population growth in the occupied territory.

Israeli officials said the initiative aims to transform the settlement of Katzrin into the “first city in the Golan.” The decision followed a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and local officials earlier this week.

The meeting included Yehuda Dua, head of the Katzrin Local Council, and Uri Kellner, head of the Golan Regional Council. The plan reportedly targets the relocation of 3,000 new Israeli families to Katzrin and surrounding areas by the end of the decade.
