Federal Budget for FY 2026-27 to be Presented on June 10 After Breakthrough Between Government and PPP

ISLAMABAD (HRNW) – The government has decided to present the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27 on June 10. According to government sources, it is proposed to convene the budget session on the evening of June 10 at 5:00 PM, and a summary to summon the sessions of both the National Assembly and the Senate has been forwarded.

Sources revealed that a major breakthrough was achieved during yesterday’s consultative meeting between the government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), wherein both sides also agreed to expand the volume of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). A proposal has come forward to increase the PSDP allocation by approximately PKR 200 billion.

Prior to the formal budget session of the National Assembly, a special meeting of the federal cabinet will be held at the Parliament House. During this session, the cabinet members will be thoroughly briefed on the budget parameters. Following the formal approval from the cabinet, the budget documents will be presented before the National Assembly.

It is worth noting that a few days ago, President Asif Ali Zardari had approved summoning the budget session on June 5; however, the date for the budget session was subsequently rescheduled to June 10.
