Operation “Muhafiz-ul-Bahr”: Pakistan Navy Secures Vital Energy Supplies Amid Regional Tensions

KARACHI (HRNW): The Pakistan Navy has successfully demonstrated its high level of professionalism and maritime expertise by ensuring the safe passage of national merchant vessels through volatile regional waters under Operation “Muhafiz-ul-Bahr” (Protector of the Sea).

Amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East and the reported closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the Pakistan Navy initiated this specialized escort operation on March 9, 2026. Working in close coordination with the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), naval warships successfully protected oil tankers and cargo ships, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of critical energy supplies to Pakistan.

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Navy stated that this mission is a testament to the force’s extraordinary courage and commitment to safeguarding the national economy. With approximately 90% of Pakistan’s trade conducted via sea, the Navy’s active monitoring and escorting of vessels have proven vital in preventing a domestic energy crisis during this period of global maritime instability.

“We salute the brave sailors of the Pakistan Navy who remain active day and night in the deep seas to ensure the stability of our motherland’s economy and the security of its maritime borders,” the spokesperson added.
