New Delhi (HRNW)- Bill Gates has canceled his scheduled speaking engagement at the India AI Impact Summit currently underway in New Delhi.
The announcement was made by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which confirmed that Gates was due to deliver a keynote address at the high-profile event. In a brief statement, the foundation said the decision was taken “after careful consideration” to ensure that the summit’s priorities remain the central focus, though no further details were provided.
His withdrawal comes amid renewed attention to his past associations with the late Jeffrey Epstein, following recently released documents by the US Department of Justice. A spokesperson for Gates stated that the allegations are unfounded and emphasized that he has not been found to have engaged in any illegal activity.
The summit will now be addressed by the foundation’s Africa and India President, Ankur Vora. The organization reaffirmed its continued commitment to health, education, and development initiatives across India.
The five-day AI Summit has drawn representatives from more than 100 countries. Narendra Modi and Emmanuel Macron also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of making artificial intelligence accessible and inclusive.
The event is being promoted as part of India’s broader ambition to establish itself as a global AI hub, though it has encountered administrative challenges and minor controversies in its early stages.
