PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar: Sohail Afridi Not Named in May 9 Cases; Reaffirms Loyalty to Party Founder

ISLAMABAD (HRNW)- Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, has stated that Sohail Afridi is not nominated in any case related to the May 9 incidents. Addressing the media, he noted that the forensic report regarding a video of Sohail Afridi remains inconclusive, as it does not clearly identify the location of the footage.

On Political Dialogue and Jail Meetings

Barrister Gohar emphasized his consistent stance on reconciliation, stating, “I have always advocated for dialogue. Political issues require political solutions so that the country’s situation can return to normalcy.”

He expressed frustration over the repeated denial of meetings with the party founder, saying, “We come every week, wait, and return empty-handed. I don’t know who is misguiding the authorities, but preventing these meetings is not a good practice.”

Internal Party Matters and Resignation

Responding to recent internal developments, Barrister Gohar clarified his position regarding Salman Akram Raja’s statements, noting that a clarification has already been issued.

“I do not want internal party matters to be discussed publicly,” Gohar stated. He reaffirmed his absolute loyalty to the party founder, adding:

“If the PTI founder asks me, I will resign and go home this very moment. He entrusted me with the chairmanship, and it is a sacred trust (Amanat). While I hold the official pen and ink of the party, the ultimate authority rests with the founding chairman.”
