Manghopier Police Arrest 35 Individuals for Violating Section 144 Near Hub Canal

KARACHI (HRNW) – In a major crackdown against the violation of government orders, the Manghopier Police have arrested 35 individuals for violating Section 144 near the Hub Canal.

The Commissioner of Karachi had previously imposed a strict ban on swimming and bathing in the Hub Canal and its connected distributaries, effective from May 5 to June 4, to ensure public safety.

Taking strict action against the violators, Station House Officer (SHO) Manghopier Raja Zulfiqar led a police operation targeting individuals bathing in the canal. During the raid, 35 people were taken into custody, and a formal case was registered against them under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for disobeying orders legally promulgated by a public servant.

SHO Raja Zulfiqar stated that citizens have been strictly forbidden from approaching or bathing in the canal due to inherent safety risks. He emphasized that police operations will continue without distinction against anyone found violating the directives issued by the Commissioner of Karachi.
