Washington, United States (HRNW) — The United States has taken an unusual step against Iran’s senior political and religious leadership by announcing a reward of up to $10 million for information about Iranian Supreme Leader’s close associate Mojtaba Ali Khamenei and former Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, along with several other individuals.
The announcement was made under the U.S. State Department’s special program Rewards for Justice Program, which aims to obtain information about individuals or networks that Washington considers a threat to global security.
According to U.S. officials, anyone who provides credible information regarding the current location, movements, or activities of these individuals or their associated networks may be eligible for a substantial financial reward. Some reports also indicate that those providing information could receive security protection and possible relocation to the United States.
The United States claims that certain senior Iranian officials are linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which Washington has already designated as a terrorist organization. U.S. authorities argue that activities connected to this network contribute to instability across the Middle East and other regions.
On the other hand, Iran has rejected such measures as political pressure and propaganda, stating that the move is intended to escalate tensions in the region. Analysts believe the announcement could further complicate already strained relations between United States and Iran, potentially intensifying diplomatic and political confrontation in the Middle East.
